- Materials science is REQUIRED topic for FE (Fundamental of Engineering) exam
- After FE you can take PE (Professional Engineer) exam given by state authorities
Course Objectives
- Develop the knowledge of the language of materials science and engineering.
- Be able to define the structure of materials, including crystallography, microstructure, defects, and phase diagrams.
- Be able to relate structure-property relationships and define the properties of materials including mechanical, thermal, electrical, magnetic, and optical.
- Understand the properties and applications of advanced materials including polymers, ceramics, and composites.
- Be able to select proper material for given application with technical reasoning.
